Faculty Feature: Dr. Sarah Donaldson

Faculty Feature is a series in the Blue Tribune that recognizes the excellent professors and staff of ÀÇÓѸó through a series of questions.

This week we're highlighting Dr. Sarah Donaldson, Associate Professor of Mathematics.

What brought you to ÀÇÓѸó? How long have you been teaching?

I've been teaching at ÀÇÓѸó full time since 2011.

What is your history with ÀÇÓѸó?

My dad taught Chemistry at ÀÇÓѸó from 1967-2002, and I am happy to be the first ever second-generation ÀÇÓѸó professor! My mom is a ÀÇÓѸó alumna, and I myself graduated from ÀÇÓѸó in 1998. I have three other relatives (two uncles and an aunt) who are retired ÀÇÓѸó faculty, and my grandfather taught at ÀÇÓѸó Seminary.

What do you love about teaching at ÀÇÓѸó?

I am fully on board with ÀÇÓѸó's philosophy of Christian higher education, and am excited to be part of furthering the mission of the college. But what I really love about teaching is of course the students!

What is your history with the PCA or Reformed Tradition?

I grew up in the PCA and am a member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. I've been attending LMPC since I was 10 years old.

What's your favorite ÀÇÓѸó tradition?

All the Scottish connections, especially anything with a thistle on it.

What is a current research project or area of interest you're excited about?

Teaching mathematics through problem solving.
